More of Everything, Please.

"Thinking how it used to be,
Does she still remember times like these?
To think of us again?
And I do."

Miss Blanche flying in her bag, looking pitifully up at me.

And, the eagle has landed back smack dab where it belongs, in New York City,
after migrating down south, to Memphis, Tennessee for nearly two weeks.
Well, the eagle, the fox, and this kind of girl.

The incredible Hulk, I mean, Hercules, has just finished slamming us. It was a one-two-punch. It wasn't all that intense, to be frank. A snow storm. A good one. I didn't need to run out in sweatpants and snow boots to stockpile bread and milk.

Sidenote: Why do people do that anyway? That isn't even a meal...a piece of multigrain with a glass of 2% for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ? Do they actually have nothing else? Are they really afraid of spending 24 hours (at most) at home without another full gallon of milk and another loaf of bread? This ritual is bizarre.

Anyway, I thought that my ears would freeze off before I caught a cab, leaving girls' "spa and bubbly night" in Tribeca as it all came barreling down from the sky.

I couldn't see in front of me, for fear that a million freezing particles would penetrate my eyeballs while consuming my face in heinous frostbite. Blindly, and falling in and over every unforeseen crack and pothole, I eventually found a yellow lit-up beacon of hope--a taxi.
It was glorious, I tell you.

As I looked out into the angelically white streets the next morning and listened to the Satanic-like howls of the snow plows, I was reminded of one of the last runs I went on while in Memphis, my hometown--Read more of my backstory HERE, if you please. The weather there alternated from sunny 50-somethings to overcast 20s. Oddly unpredictable. Well, much like New York, I suppose. But, I love a nice brisk holiday morning run around my parents' neighborhood. It's nostalgic for me and such a heavenly time to collect my thoughts and soak up some of that intangible "home feeling" that I wish I could bottle and take with me...and then market and sell, of course.

Right now, I'm alllll about eggplant and black combinations.

GapFit eggplant shirt long sleeve shirt//GapFit grey zip-up long sleeve jacket// GapFit black ankle-length running pants// Tortoise & Blonde black "Capri" sunglasses (LOVE this affordable eyewear brand!)// New Balance socks// Mizuno running shoes, which my father convinced me to try, considering the amount of miles a week I was putting on my old sneakers.
Of course, as always, he was right. Another win for Dad.

While I own a great deal of lululemon, and I do like it for both its practical use and its clean look(despite its pricey "upscale cool factor," catering to a lot of women who simply wear it for display rather than movement). But, I've also purchased lower lines from Target to Forever 21, all of which perform and look equally cool, and for about a fourth of the price...Sorry, the expensive lululemon logo isn't included. Last Christmas, I was gifted Gap's GapFit athleticwear line, and I've been living in it...I find to be almost an exact match to "that other trendy yet expensive line" and ridiculously tough in terms of shelf-life.  I've just acquired two more pairs of full-length running pants recently (handy in cooler temperatures as opposed to shin-length), some new looser-fitting tanks, and additional long-sleeve training shirts with the thumb holes that I adore for outdoor activities.

Get on those New Year's resolutions...whether it's to simply to be healthier all around, more active, eat cleaner, lose that last holiday eggnog and pecan pie (cough, cough), move more, increase endurance, gain confidence, or simply to just feel your very best...or, at least, BETTER than ever before.

I was listening to the ever-appropriate Zeppelin's "Tangerine" and enjoying the early sun's warmth on my face. It wasn't quite the official New Year yet, but I felt that something was turning over, somersaulting over me, over us.
A seamless, quiet acknowledgment of time, moments, and interactions that had passed.
And, then, with a sigh, and a breeze of soaring, fallen leaves... it began anew. A few blinks of the eye, deep breaths (from the sprinting intervals I was doing), and I felt that transition. Acknowledgment becomes respect, and after respect, it's release.

Since we couldn't clink our champagne glasses together on New Year's Eve,
raise a glass, a warm mug, or just a hand.

Cheers, dear!
